For larger cultivation activities, a large heating mat is needed! Although this is not necessary during the summer, this heating mat will allow you to maximize the yield of your mushroom grow kit in colder situations. Mushrooms are very sensitive to various environmental changes, with temperature being one of the most important. Therefore, you must use a heating mat if you want to grow your mushrooms in a place where different temperature changes can occur! This heating mat is designed to fit most mushroom grow kits and will serve you for a very long time.

The best temperature for growing psilocybin mushrooms is typically between 70-77°F (21-25°C) during the colonization phase, and slightly cooler, around 65-75°F (18-24°C), during the fruiting phase.

For best results, psilocybe mushrooms should grow at a stable temperature of 23-24°C. The variables can range from 21°C to 27°C, but anything higher than 27°C can kill the mushrooms and anything lower than 21°C will exponentially slow down growth.

Do mushrooms need light to grow?

Magic mushrooms do not photosynthesize, so they can grow without any light source. Furthermore, they cannot tolerate direct sunlight or the colony will die. However, it is always better if mushrooms have some kind of light source, especially if it is located directly above the colony (artificial light). Artificial light or indirect sunlight helps mushrooms know which direction to grow. Therefore, it is a good idea to have a light source if you want to grow straight and undistorted mushrooms.

How long does it take to grow your own magic mushrooms?

This depends on the method you use; the fastest way is a psilocybe mushroom grow kit. These are ready to activate upon arrival, and after activation, you can expect to harvest your first fresh mushrooms within 2-4 weeks (yield). Afterward, it can take 1-2 weeks for each subsequent flush, and in most cases, you can expect 3-4 stable flushes from a single grow kit (if you don't contaminate it and keep it in good condition), with a maximum of 7 flushes. It's assumed that the 2nd and 3rd flushes will have the largest yield with the most stable potency, and from there, the size of the flush will gradually become smaller and smaller with each subsequent flush you harvest.

If you plan to grow your own psilocybin mushrooms from spores to fruiting bodies (grow kits are already colonized, meaning you save time on the process), it can take 2-3 months for your first harvest. This is because you need to inoculate and colonize your mushrooms, which can take several weeks on average (3-6), depending on the amount of cultivation you want to have. After that, the process can be similar to a grow kit, where you cultivate your mushrooms directly, or you can even spend a little more time colonizing an even larger batch to maximize yield.
