Morning Glory Seeds

About Morning Glory Seeds

Ipomoea purpurea belongs to a family of climbing plants that originated in the Americas and have since spread to gardens around the world. Gardeners initially valued the plant for its rapid growth and vibrant flowers in shades of purple, pink, blue, and white. That’s the story everyone knows best.

Related morning glory species also appear in ancient Mesoamerican botanical knowledge, where certain seeds were part of ritual life and served not only as decoration. Colonial accounts and later botanical research introduced these plants to Europe, first as curiosities and garden flowers, and later as subjects of ethnobotany. Ipomoea purpurea itself became a common climber in cottage gardens, sold as much for its beauty as for any traditional use of its seed.

A modern package of 300 seeds bridges those two histories: a well-known flowering vine and a seed with a more serious traditional reputation. Responsible cultivation keeps an eye on both. These seeds belong to a vigorous plant family and require caution: start with a small amount, provide a safe space, and avoid careless repetition.

Ingredients

The only ingredient is Ipomoea purpurea, the common morning glory. The package contains 300 seeds and nothing else: no added flavorings and no other plants.

The plant is a fast-growing vine with heart-shaped leaves and funnel-shaped flowers. After flowering, it produces seed pods containing hard, dark seeds. These seeds constitute the entire product. As with other plant-based products, the character and potency can vary by harvest and origin—yet another reason to start with a low dose.
