Yopo Seeds

About Yopo Seeds

Yopo Seeds are the seeds of Anadenanthera peregrina, a tree native to the Orinoco and Amazon regions with a long history of ritual use. The package contains 15 seeds.

What are Yopo Seeds?

The tree belongs to the legume family, with feathery leaves and pods containing reddish-brown seeds. Possible effects include altered perception, mental relaxation, more intense thoughts, and heightened sensory experience. The reaction depends heavily on the dosage and individual sensitivity. This product is not a medicine.

Origin and Background

Anadenanthera peregrina grows from the Orinoco and Amazon regions to parts of the Caribbean. Archaeological and written sources link the seeds to the ceremonial life of the Taíno, who called related preparations “cohoba,” and to forest peoples such as the Yanomami. Customs varied by region, but the seeds were always used for ritual purposes and not as ordinary food.

A modern package containing 15 seeds cannot replicate that context. It remains important to treat their origin with respect and not to view the seeds as mere entertainment.

Ingredients

Only Anadenanthera peregrina seeds. The package contains 15 seeds and nothing else: no added flavorings and no other plants. The potency may vary depending on the harvest and origin, so start with a low dose.
