What are Hawaiian Copelandia?
Hawaiian Copelandia, also known as Copelandia cyanescens or Blue Meanies, is a distinct species within the Panaeolus family and not a cubensis variant. The mushrooms grow in elegant, slender clusters with thin stems and small, bell-shaped caps that turn a deep blue when damaged—a sign of their high psilocybin and psilocin content.
This strain is known for its extreme potency and delivers a clear, visually rich trip with a warm, tropical vibe. The yield is lower than that of cubensis kits (typically 90–130 grams fresh over 2–3 flushes), but due to its potency, you’ll need significantly less. Suitable only for experienced growers and users due to its sensitivity during cultivation and the high intensity of its effects. Store the kit in a cool place (2–4 °C) until use.
History of Hawaiian Copelandia
Panaeolus cyanescens (formerly often called Copelandia cyanescens) is a tropical species native to warm, subtropical regions around the world. The Hawaiian strain owes its popularity to the islands, where the mushrooms likely arrived in the early 19th century via livestock imported from the Philippines.
The species was first scientifically described in Sri Lanka in 1871 and later in the Philippines. Due to its exceptionally high concentrations of active compounds and its characteristic blue coloration, the Hawaiian variant became legendary among experienced psychonauts. Today, it is prized for its pure, intense, and visually overwhelming experience, which clearly differs from the more introspective cubensis strains.
How do you use Hawaiian Copelandia?
Growing Hawaiian Copelandia is clearly different from standard cubensis kits. The substrate is based on (horse) manure, and this strain is more sensitive to moisture, temperature, and hygiene. Follow the included instructions carefully:
Always work with clean hands in a clean environment. Apply the cover soil evenly, keep the top layer moist (without spraying the mushrooms directly), and ensure there is plenty of fresh air. Pins usually appear after 6–11 days. Harvest 24–36 hours after the first black spores appear by gently pushing or cutting the stems.
After harvest, you can repeat the cycle for multiple flushes. When consuming, always start with a very low dose:
- Mild high: 0.1–0.3 g dried
- Medium: 0.4–0.5 g dried
- Strong high: 0.5–0.7 g dried
Never use the dosages you're used to with cubensis. Consume in a safe, quiet setting with a trip sitter.
Ingredients of Hawaiian Copelandia
The grow kit contains 1200 cc of fully colonized substrate (manure-based, tailored to the natural habitat of Panaeolus cyanescens), a grow bag with air filters, a casing layer, and paper clips. The mycelium has been selected for its classic Hawaiian genetics with high potency. No artificial additives. The mushrooms naturally produce high levels of psilocybin and psilocin.
