What is a spore sprayer?

Spores are the tiny seeds of a mushroom. They are invisible to the naked eye. In a syringe, they are dissolved in sterile water. This makes it easy to examine them under a microscope. Collectors use spore syringes to compare different species.

Each syringe is labeled with its Latin name. That way, you know exactly which species you're holding.

The Offer

The well-known Golden Teacher is called Psilocybe aurumescens. B+ is officially called Psilocybe amplus. McKennaii is named after the writer Terence McKenna. The Hawaiian strain contains spores of Copelandia cyanescens. Thai (Mexican), Cambodian, Colombian, and Ecuadorian are named after their countries of origin.

Working with a spray gun

Take the syringe out of the refrigerator half an hour in advance so it can come to room temperature. Shake it gently so the spores are evenly distributed in the water. Work on a clean surface and sanitize your hands.

Place a drop on a clean microscope slide. Examine the spores at a magnification of about 400x. You’ll then see the distinctive shape and color of each species. This makes it easy to compare the different syringes in our selection.

Put the cap back on the syringe right away and put it back in the refrigerator. Do not touch the needle with your fingers. A contaminated syringe can no longer be used for testing.

Culture Ampoule delivers each syringe in its own packaging. Keep that packaging, because it lists the type and the date. This will help you keep your collection organized. A simple notebook where you record your observations for each type makes comparing them even easier.

Legislation

Spores do not contain psilocybin themselves. That is why collecting spore syringes is not prohibited in the Netherlands. However, growing magic mushrooms using them is prohibited. Stricter rules may apply in other countries. Always check for yourself what applies to you before placing an order.

Save

Store a spore syringe in the refrigerator at a temperature between 2 and 8 degrees. Do not let it freeze. Keep it out of direct sunlight. Use the syringe for your research within the period indicated on the packaging. Older spores are often less clearly visible. Therefore, write the date of purchase on a label. Always work as cleanly as possible to prevent bacteria from contaminating the sample.
