What are designer drugs?

Designer drugs usually refer to “clones” of known illegal Class A drugs. It is not very difficult to find a way to create a chemical structure that is almost identical to illegal substances, a substance that mimics the effects of various drugs. They are called designer drugs or “legal highs” because it is difficult to regulate them and it takes time for governments to adapt to all the new substances available on the black market.
